Burj Khalifa offers four different ticket tiers. Most visitors buy the wrong one. Here is the honest breakdown — including the times to skip the upgrade and the times it is absolutely worth it.

The four ticket tiers, simply

  • At The Top (Levels 124 & 125) — the standard. Around AED 159 off-peak, AED 199 prime-time (sunset).
  • At The Top SKY (Levels 124, 125 & 148) — adds the world's highest observation lounge on floor 148, with refreshments. Around AED 379.
  • At The Top — Prime Hours — same as standard but at sunset (the most photogenic slot). About 40% more expensive.
  • VIP Experience — fast-track, lounge access, private elevator. Around AED 600+.

Which one should you buy?

Buy the standard (124 & 125) if: you've never been before, it's your first visit to Dubai, or you're travelling with kids. The view is identical to SKY in 95% of directions — you just don't get the lounge.

Buy SKY 148 if: it's your second visit, you want serious bragging rights, or you'd like a memorable date night. The lounge service and exclusivity make it worth the upgrade.

Buy Prime Hours if: you'd never go up Burj Khalifa without seeing sunset. Time slots 30 minutes before sunset sell out 2–3 weeks in advance during peak season.

Cheapest way to see Burj Khalifa

Don't buy a ticket at all. Walk the Dubai Mall bridge, watch the free Dubai Fountain show every 30 minutes after 6 pm. Eat at At.Mosphere (level 122) for around AED 250 per head — same view as the observation deck, included with your meal.

How early to book

Time-slot tickets sell out by 7 days in advance during peak season (November–February). Sunset slots are gone 3 weeks out. Off-peak you can usually book 24 hours in advance.

Photography tips

Bring a phone with wide angle (or a wide-angle attachment) — your eye sees a much wider scene than a standard phone camera can capture. Shoot from the corners of the deck for the cleanest skyline composition. Avoid shooting through scratched plexiglass on the indoor section.
